I agree but the IRS is a domain unto itself and there is a lot more wacked about them then refunds to the common folk. Look to the 1% if you really want to see wacked.

there's always more wacked stuff going on but we are capable of dealing with more than one situation at a time. Get a flat tax in place and level the playing field on income tax would be a nice start.

I don't see the flat tax as being the answer either because of the ratio. Let's say it's set at 30% that 30% would affect me much much more then it would a Warren buffet and would be disproportionate to an equal payment standard.

Building a bridge out of necessity is one thing. Building one for employment is worse for the economy. Look up the Broken Window Fallacy.

Taxes are the government's money once it's deducted. You also have the choice to not have that deduction taken out of your paycheck (that box on the W4 form that says exempt) and deal with it later when you fill out another form where it says "you owe". Then it's your choice to pay it or deal with the consequences later. There's your choice. No taxes is not an option unless you are looking to live in a third world country.

There's plenty of infrastructure in this country that needs to be upgraded which are necessities.

Re-read your original post. You certainly did make that representation. You posted a link, and then made comments about the people who are in the 50%. If my exemptions and such, like deductions for children, give me more back than I paid in, how is that my fault? Not everyone makes a six figure income, you know. I work my @ss off at my job, and I made under $40k. It's the price you pay working in a social services field.

You might want to do a quick Google search to see what the criteria is for claiming exempt on your W4 because you seem to be misinformed about what the qualifications are to claim it. You'll find out that you can't just claim it because you think you're just going to pay the taxes later on.

And a lot of people meet the criteria and claim it. That is an option for not having the taxes deducted from their paychecks.

Prove it. If you make more than $950 a year, you can not claim it.

Perhaps you should try claiming exempt to find out what happens. You'll be flagged for an audit pretty quickly and you could actually go to jail.

I've filed exempt on several occassions and have yet to be audited.
