I'm a very casual boxing fan, does Cotto even have a chance? (i.e. is this worth watching?)

Cotto is a good fighter. Only true loss came from Pacquiao (lost to Margarito, but he had the plaster in his gloves). If he's going to beat Floyd though, he's going to have to knock him out. Judges won't give Cotto a decision unless if he decapitates Mayweather in the ring and beats him to a pulp. I put a bet down on Cotto KO at 7-1 because I liked the odds, but honestly Floyd is too good. Hoping for a good fight though.

It was a great fight. Cotto came to fight. But Cotto conditioning failed him once again. I know some people don't like Mayweather but dam this guy is world class with skill. He can nuetrilize any fighting style against him

I thought it was a decent fight. Nothing showstopping. Mayweather's defense is "in-pwegna-buhll". A lot of on lookers though something was going on when Cotto was firing punches but really the punches are sliding off of his shoulders or grazing him because his defensive footwork and shoulder/head movement is too good.

Cotto at least came at him. He kept sneaking jabs in but never really continued with them. Floyd seems to figure you out defensively as the fight progresses and then he suddenly will throw in a wrinkle to what he's doing offensively and you're not ready. Then towards the latter rounds of the fight the opponent begins to feel the effects of 8 rounds of missed/glancing punches he begins his offense. The more tired you get the more aggressive he becomes.

Guys punch themselves out trying to hit him. The person that will beat him will be someone who has the strength to hurt him, the conditioning to keep punching for 12 rounds, and isn't afraid to be the aggressor.

Floyd is an @sshole, but I still appreciate his skill as a fighter. It's almost like he's playing chess.

I thought Cotto did better the 2nd half of the fight than the first half

I liked cotto's game plan. He waited too long to execute it IMO. Just like i liked Ortiz's game plan. keep floyd on the ropes in a defensive position and attempt to rough him up. Also, anyone that has commitment to a long jab can win some points on him.

But dayum, floyd is the best defensive fighter i've ever seen. I think he has the skills to be the best offensive fighter i've seen, but he is so intent on not getting hit and ripping off the PPV dollars, that he doesnt go all out offensively. Skill-wise though, i put him up there close to Ali and RJJ.

I wish he would stop BS with Pac though. What is floyd, is it Bob Arum, the 50/50 refusal or blood testing. You mentioned all three in the past two days. It cant be all three. stop BS and protecting your undefeated record and go ahead and knock Pac out. You lil biatch.
I knew Pacquio was getting knocked out when they showed Romney in his dressing room wishing him luck.

Cotto fought a hell of a fight. Mayweather won't forget it that's for sure. I would have liked to witnessed COtto actually make a bigger push. He had Mayweather dangling for a bit in the middle rounds but backed off. I can't stand Mayweather, but what a boxer.

I thought Cotto's gameplan was good. I thought he should've pushed Mayweather around a bit more when he was against the ropes, instead of bulldogging his head down. I just don't think he could sustain that game plan for a 12 round fight. To be honest most of the rounds looked the same. Mayweather against the ropes, playing defense and counter punching here and there while Cotto pressed and tried to keep him there. I thought there were times Cotto should taken a jabbing approach. The jabs Cotto threw were good and annoyed Mayweather. I thought he could've done more there.

Anyway, yea, is there any fight left except for Pac vs. Mayweather? Does Pac have anyone else to fight?

Lastly, Sugar Shane, please leave the party.

Was a very good fight. I think it was Floyd's best fight in a while. Somebody finally somewhat pushed him, touched him up a little, and he responded well. He threw a ton, more than any of his fights that I can remember. Just an indicator as to how good Floyd is, every time Cotto had him cornered it's as if Floyd dished out more punishment to Cotto than the other way. There is absolutely nowhere in the ring where the guy is at a disadvantage. When you have a guy cornered, you're supposed to tee off on him, not vice versa.

There are a few i'd like to see, but wont. I'm tired of seeing floyd fight mofos 5 years too late. I wish he'd stick to ONE excuse as to why he isnt fighting Pac. the 50/50 split is a difference in pay day earnings of 15 million (75 mil vs 90mil). I would push for a 60mil payday each and the winner gets an extra 30. So if Floyd wins, as he should, he would get the 90 mil that he wants. But of course, that wont happen. Its not about money, its not about testing, Bob Arum or location. Its about retiring undefeated and not RISKING an L
