Bones makes a good point on the church lawsuit thing. it's something I've talked to people about. If gay marriage is legalized, and a church refuses to do it, how is not clear cut discrimination, according to the law? However, my church, for instance, won't marry two people who are not "saved." is that discrimination?

He's right though Bones. I don't know the reason behind it but for some reason the internet is a very racist place, but the actual real world is not even close to the cesspool on the net. That should tell you that there are a lot of people that are walking around keeping things to themselves.

You're right, but i wouldnt call it "having an adequate amount of shame". To put it bluntly, I'd call it "a lack of balls". You guys tend to say all that crazy ish online/on websites and not in public where you might get the F knocked out. Not saying you specifically. Go to any video on youtube or the like that has black people in it and read the comments. It could be a rap video, porn video or any uploaded video. You see all the racist remarks by white peeps. You dont see the reverse for the white videos

It has to do with having something to lose and knowing that there are consequences to actions. Some hoodrat woman on a bus may not care if someone takes a video of her being racist and puts it on the internet; or if she gets into a fight because she ran her mouth because SHE has nothing to lose.

Also, as far as considering the consequences, you need to look at the way different communities view those consequences. If I get in a fight over saying something racist, and am charged with a crime (or worse yet, a hate crime) my life as I know it is basically over. It will affect my job, my law license, my personal relationships, my kid's school applications, etc.

If you come from a community that views going to jail as a badge of honor; or where you didn't have, or weren't going to try and find a job anyway, or if everyone else you know is ALSO an ignorant, uneducated moron, you are much more likely act like an idiot in public.

You're pretty much spot on about having something to lose. Everyone has been in a situation where they wanted to pipe up but can't due to the circumstances said in your post. In some instances you have to initiate a personal probation on yourself because it's simply not worth interfering with or doing the right thing. We live in a sue me nation and everyone has a camera. Might as well look the other way, I totally get it and i'm not being sarcastic.

Take a look at www.worldstarhiphop.com. I recognize the huge problem within the black population and their disproportionate contribution with regards to violence amongst their own . It is disturbing watching urban youths go ham on each other while some vile person shouts "WORLD STAR HIP HOP YO" as someone is basically going to be laid up in a hospital. That site glorifies violence to a tee and I visit everyday for the "what am I going to see next" factor.

I get what you're feeling too. Everyone is racist to some degree, everyone. You, me, him and them. Your'e walking by probably muttering "please don't rob me, please don't rob me, please don't rob me". The media and personal experience i'm sure molds how you feel in those situations. I try not to stray away from environments where I am comfortable in. Not because i'm a giant pussy, because I like others have things to lose if I venture out of my comfort zone. Those of you in New Jersey, have you seen Newark or Camden lately? It's a disgrace, an absolute abomination that an area can essentially look like Fallujah with no up keep.

Unless you were going to say something racist as a justification for cutting the line? Those internet videos with the racist comments people leave is the lack of balls portion. Not in your case, where someone does something inflammatory directly to you, and you gauge the situation and show restraint.

What Thong said was compariing people just randomly being overtly racist all over the internet when those people aren't being randomly racist in real life because you don't just walk around hearing outwardly unprovoked racist comments like in Cyberspace.

There is usually a group of them in every room you go to. The mute feature is a great thing. I know they are not all like this, but they sure don't paint a picture of something respectable. How do I know this guy doesn't look like Erkel? Would this not be racist too like the cowardly posts on the internet? I get what you're feeling too. Everyone is racist to some degree, everyone. You, me, him and them.

This is my view on the subject. I'm not saying white people aren't racist, but the average black person, Asian, etc, are just as racist. We're all in the same boat. Every person on the planet is, to varying degrees.

As stated before everyone has some racist tendencies. It's not confined to just blacks or Asians. There ate just as many whites and asians wilding out as blacks just not as glorified. Even though I have seen lots of black people go off I have seen just as many other races as well. Iv been places were my friends told me they were actually ashamed of being white after this ignorant woman went ham and I was embarassed also.
