    4-6 Defense discussion (Texans-Giants)

I am currently become more and more familiar with the 4-6 defensive line up. However, I continuously give up big plays over the middle / mis-defend the slot with a slow DB. I have two questions. Is it possible to run a successful 4-6 with the Texans/Giants? And what are the simple subs you personally perform? I put Williams at DE for Texans, JPP continues to get better at DE for NYG. I need to figure out how to get KEO away from defending the long pass!!! Hit power is great, speed absolutely sucks.

you could make keo your 4th corner in the 46 speed package. Occasionally he would be in man coverage on a slot reciever or te but I run alot of zone so a slow hard hitting safety is great playing hookzones and playing the run. I don't run with the texans or giants but they seem to be set up pretty good for the 46. Fast DE, Strong high blockshed tackles, fast good coverage mlb ( this is where they may be lacking ) I like to set up my depth chart so that when I change from speed package to d-line sub my runstuffing lineman come in.. for instance... maybe have
    tuck, canty , jpp, osi
as your starters for the speed package but have
jpp, [ strong dt ], tuck, canty,
as your backups for d-line sub. this way you bring two linebackers and an extra beefy tackle in to help stop the run.
    your depth chart would be
    LE: Tuck, JPP
DT: Canty, Jpp, Strong DT, Tuck
    RE: Osi, Canty
