    Jamal Lewis file chapter 11

    Submitted by 60 Max Power O Staff on May 27, 2012 - 9:00am
We hear it time and time again. Filthy rich athletes blowing all their money. All that hard work to become an NFL player to get that enormous contract, millions upon millions of dollars that the average joe sixpack could never obtain.

Then in a blink of an eye it's gone. And what sympathy do the little people give such a person that would flush all their blessings down the toilet so carelessly? None. Nada. Zilch.

The latest NFL player to cry broke is former Ravens and Browns running back Jamal Lewis, who has reportedly filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, according to TMZ.com.

Lewis' filing is called a 'reorganization', not total liquidation (see Warren Sapp). The issue Lewis has is that he owns a lot of stuff, with assets totalling $14.45 million. Here's the problem - He also is $10.56 million in debt, and with a net worth of about $4 million, he just doesn't have the cash to pay his bills.

According to the report, he has five homes, a fleet of cars, and a 50-percent share in a Columbus, Ohio water park. Looks like Jamal has some selling to do. Yard Sale? Ebay? Take your pick.

Lewis rushed for 10,607 yards during his career and chose to spend pretty much all of his earnings on unnecessary things. How cliché.

Here's another cliché - 'a fool and his money soon part'. Cry me a river Jamal.

maybe he'd wouldnt have as much debt if he didnt have 5 holmes and a car for every day of the month. hard to really feel sorry for someone like that when there are people with similar issues with no car who rent

Don't forget he was smoking crack as well. Literally. A lot of these guys that go broke also have severe addictions to alcohol or painkillers. It's easy to say you don't feel bad because they were rich, but having more money also means you now have more expensive ways to waste it. If you're irresponsible, it doesn't matter how much money you have.

And this is why the concussion suits are becoming so popular.
