Who cares how much money is involved...who cares how much the tax is...the fact is that when your team contends for a title, you don't give a sh1t about money or the future. No amount of future draft picks or good young talent can replace the feeling you get when you're 2-2 with the Heat going back to Boston for Game 5. That's what it's all about- the journey to get a ring.

it doesnt matter if he takes up 40% of the cap or 100% of the cap because the nets will already be over the cap. whats the difference between:

not having joe johnson and Being 8 million over the cap, and not being able to sign anyone

    vs

having joe johnson, being 24 million over the cap, and not being able to sign anyone

johnsons contract is really only an issue if you DONT already have talent around him or bird rights to talented players. had the nets NOT had williams bird rights and not had lopez bird rights and getting joe johnson prevented them from signing those 2, that would be a bad move... but it doesnt preclude them from signing anyone.

What cap hell are they in exactly? what flexibility do they need?
assuming deron williams stays, where do they need help? thats a very complete team, thats pretty young(dwill 27, lopez 23, brooks 23, humphries 26, wallace 30, JJ, 31). Still have all their first round picks moving forward plus the MLE each year.

they would have 2 current allstars(dwill, jj), a recent allstar(wallace) and probably a future allstar(lopez).

    problems are:

    1) dwight will be an unrestricted free agent

    2) bynum will be an unrestricted free agent

    3) dwight said he will test free agency unless traded to the nets

The magic dont make that deal unless bynum would agree to extend. lakers woudlnt make that deal unless howard agreed to extend. it could very well happen, but alot would need to change

No. It's not about that. The Heat agree with me.

yea, im on the realgm boards alot, and its crazy.... lakers fans are like "we are getting howard and chris paul its a lock"

orlando fans are like "why we would trade for bynum or lopez, we'd rather have the cap space"

stupid. bynum deal could surely happen... but alot needs to get worked out. mainly howard changing his mind... which seems to happen pretty often

As much as Bynum is up and coming, if i was the magic the nets deal is alot better to replenish the team and get draft picks. Lopez is not Bynum but he is no slouch what so ever and Chris is a decent power forward to makeup for the lack of rebounds Lopez doesn't get. That young shooting guard the nets have is really going to be something in the right envirement.
