    Tech support

Okay I am reaching out to my personal Tech support once again. Yes I know I should know these things by now, but fortunate for you guys it has not sunk in!

I am using Firefox still. Here recently I have lost the ability to watch video's. Youtube I get a black screen with "an error has occurred". Other sites it just will not play them at all. I tried to research it on the Mozilla website and am glad to see that I am not the only one having the issue, but as usual they are talking in a foreign language that I have no idea what they mean. If anyone has an idea of what is causing my problem or what I can do to cure this please feel free to respond. I will need detailed instructions as I am not real comfortable clicking on stuff I have no clue what it is.

which version of firefox are you using? if you go to help-> about firefox it will tell you the version(i.e. 13.1)

my guess is you might need to either:

    1) update the version of FF you are using
    2) update the java plugin for your ff browser
    3) update your version of java on your computer

can you watch videos in another browser like internet explorer?

    doiwnload most recent firefox version:
    http://mozilla-firefox.todownload.co...cXe4AodvXFkFA&

to verify your plugins are up to date:
    http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/

Download adobe flash(be sure to uncheck the mcafee thing):
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

id do all 3, in that order, then reboot

ok cool, so its likely not any kind of virus or malware or spyware or anything.... go through the steps i listed above and see how that works. id assume either updating the browser or plugins would get it done

Haha, I was having this problem with the latest flash update. I had to un-install flash, replace or update the firefox browser etc. This flash has really screwed over Firefox and it sucks in general. It's a cache/ram hog on games and videos. Nothing like getting halfway through a tv show but the words are like 3 seconds ahead of the video.

Turn off hardware acceleration. That did the trick for me when I had a similar situation.

    13.0.1 is my version.
Did all these in order and problem was fixed for approximately one video on youtube then right back to the same thing. Any other recommendations? I even went in to try to turn the accelerator thingy off, but it says my driver does not support changes.

    For anyone who cares...
Found this solution on the web and tried it. It fixed my problem for two days now.

    Open RealPlayer
Click on the drop down in top left corner
    Go to preferences
    Then Downloading & recording
Uncheck the box that says "enable web downloading & recording for these installed browsers".
Hopefully doesn't mess anything else up, but I can now watch videos.
