PS3 PhatGrips Now Available for Pre-Order

Posting this with permission from Sgibs and ZFarls.

A lot of the longtime members here are aware of my PhatGrip project that I've been grinding on for the past couple of years. for the newer members who may not know what PhatGrip is, they are grips designed to fit onto the handles of your game controller for a more comfortable gaming experience. Those of you who spend a lot of time in the lab and in games on a daily basis will truly appreciate the improvement.

After several iterations, design changes, surface texture research, continuous back and forth with my manufacturer on pricing, UPS on overseas bulk shipping, legal team work with my attorney from Holland Hart along with the feedback help from many people, including the guys here at VG who were in the early Focus Group, I've finally got the PS3 version ready to go into a first run production effort.

But it takes quite a bit of $$ to get a manufacturing project such as this off the ground for a little guy like me. To make that happen, I decided to take it to a crowdfunding effort at indiegogo. You can check it out at http://tinyurl.com/c8svq62

Yes that's me in the video.

I decided to put together a special deal for the members here at maddentips.com. If you pre-order, I will include another set for free. For me to do that, you MUST - ABSOLUTELY MUST - include your forum name and that you are from maddentips.com in the comment section of the pre-order itself. An example would be "nevadaballin from maddentips". That way I can separate your pre-orders from the others to ensure you get the free set. This is for the Comment Section of your actual PRE-ORDER and not the comment section of the project.

For the members who were part of the Focus Group, you have not been forgotten. If the campaign reaches it's goal and the production run happens, all of YOU will get a free set as promised, without having to pre-order. But it only happens if I reach the goal.

Go check it out, pre-order a set, tell your friends, link it to your facebook, google plus, pass it along in twitter, etc. If you have any questions I'll be more than happy to answer them here.

    Thanks!

Important update to this that is exciting to me personally. We'll be joining St. Jude's Children's Hospital's "Partners In Hope" program. I've always wanted to link PhatGrip to a meaningful organization where we could give back. The work that is done at St Jude's for children is incredible. It's easy to support such an effort. Our donations will go directly to the hospital itself, not a third party charity distribution chain.

This isn't just for the life of the IndieGoGo campaign. It will be for the life of the PhatGrip company.

For every set sold, we will donate $1 to St. Jude's. Our efforts will be posted on our website monthly for all to see.

I need to be clear that this isn't some marketing ploy to get you guys to buy in. There's only like 100 of you total, you probably won't make or break the ongoing project for PhatGrip (but it would be awesome if you were on the "make" part of it!). I just wanted to let everyone know of the decision. You won't see any glaring St Jude's logos all over our packaging or our website. There will be text on the back of the packaging and there will be a link at the website titled "Giving Back" for those interested in more information on this effort. There is also a short announcement at the beginning of the IndieGoGo text campaign and that's the only place it is mentioned there.

Thanks to everyone who has helped spread the word so far, we hope you continue to support!

I've never had an issue with sweaty hands, but apparently it's a problem for a lot of gamers - Madden players, in particular. There was a 10+ page thread about it on another gaming forum.

Yea, some people sweat more than others. When I first got the idea, it was because my hands were sweating and eventually the controller would get a little slippery and have this bit of a grimey feel to it sometimes. That was the real problem i wanted to solve.

But it's more than just sweaty hands. It's a whole new comfort experience when holding the controller. Everything starts with the hands for us gamers. It's like the difference between using a screwdriver or hammer or baseball bat of golf club with and without a grip on them.

Of course, everything isn't for everyone but I gotta admit, these are pretty cool. It isn't some fantastic high tech accessory but it's effective nonetheless. I can't wait to get some done with printing on them. It would be awesome to get major sports licensing so we could print team logos on them.

    I highly recommend Phat Grips.

I was playing NHL recently at relatives house and
lost to my 7 year old nephew cause Phat grips were not on the job.

Buy Phat Grips, sweaty palms suck!

Sweaty palms have never been my trouble, but I will say this.
If you have big hands, crooked fingers, and some arthritis mixed in....Phatgrips make a world of difference. They make the controller more comfortable in your hands. I miss mine and am trying to figure out how to remove them from a controller and reapply them to another lol.

That's right, you've got those first generation ones that had adhesive on them. Wish I had another set of prototypes of what they are now (no adhesive) to send you. So much better.

Been waiting on these for 2 years. I believe I pre-ordered once before and it never took off.

Yep, we weren't ready to roll out at that time, that's why a $$ commitment wasn't asked for back then. A little different now. We need to reach that goal though or nothing happens, we can't order production to run it and you won't pay anything.
