What are the ratings to look for when setting up you're front 4

just wanted to get some input from you guys. im trying to decide which stats i should look at the most when building my
front 4 in my 4-3 defense. i know block shedding and power move but is there anything else i should be looking for?

    is strength an important rating?

For what I seen, specifically for the DE's you also will loook for speed, acc and fmv, and I will go a little further, saying for DE's acc is more important the speed, that's my opinion.....also if you have a stud at LB, and has great atributes on the acc, fmv, move him down to DE. I hope this helps.

i think you might have missed this post - from your other thread.
first - thanks for signing up - appreciate it.

I personally look for guys with speed/versatility on the edge. I want things like speed, acc, height, maybe if a guy has solid hit power out there as I drop these defenders into coverage quite a bit. They also need to be able to get to the QB quick enough so speed and acc is important.

On the interior I look for ONE big hog that has great strength and blockshed. He is my #1 DT who helps blow runs up in the backfield. I then look for another big body that can do it all in terms of speed, and athleticism. I usually end up with a guy that is around 75 speed - 6'5ish.

to me this is a well rounded MADDEN defensive line

I'm a believer in PMV more than FMV. I personally have more success with them

my DEs are usually faster LBs from LB Pass Rush settings, so if im in a 4-3/nickle form, my depth will have my fastest LBs at #1 on LOLB and ROLB, with my cov/awr LBs at #2.

My dts, are all about strength, and block shed, power move.

It's sad that people believe this is necessary. The main reason for this, is the lack of impact that elite DE's have in Madden. It's been horrible for years. Think about it, an elite pass rushing DE is considered one of the most important positions on a football team (by many NFL analysts, scouts, coaches, you name it), yet they have been represented like crap in Madden. I've heard some in the NFL believe an elite DE is the 2nd most important player behind an elite QB. Some might say the 3rd or 4th most important. Either way, it hasn't translated into Madden. For this reason, people have been moving LB's to DE's to get more speed and coverage skills. If the impact of great DE's was more realistic in Madden, I don't think people would drop "DE's (LB's)" into coverage as often. A great front 4 in the NFL can be dominate all by itself (just ask the Giants) allowing more coverage by the real LB's. A front four that can constantly generate great pressure is priceless.

I added a suggestion to the EA Ideas/Game Changer page to increase the impact of elite DE's in future Madden titles. Here it is: http://mgi-gc.easports.com/a/dtd/Inc...s/142154-18503 Feel free to vote and add a comment to share you take on this topic.

Also, I did a blog on the BSH (Block Shed) attribute for DT's and DE's: http://maddenmanniac.blogspot.com/20...-shed-bsh.html You might be interested.

I agree with Sgibs, that BSH is extremely important for interior defensive linemen in Madden. 90+ STR and 90+ BSH is a great combo to have for your DT's/NT's, it really helps against the inside running game. I would also look for high ACC at DT to go with the STR/BSH. To me, ACC is more important than speed at that DT position.

I don't disagree with this totally, but, at least for me, the reason I move LB's to DE positions is because they have better acc and speed than the DE. There are some DE's (J. Peppers for example) who are a beast off the edge but that's because he has good acc/speed. There are several teams with players, some down the roster, who have DE's with good acc and speed (the Bengals being one of those teams) and if you can find them, then you don't need to sub in the LB's.

Now, if you mean (and I think you do) that DE's such as Peppers should make more of an impact in their 1x1 battles on the line (meaning beat their guy more), then I totally agree. I see too many 90's rated DE's or DT's not making an impact on Madden as you would expect them to.

I also agree with the comment above that acc is more important than top speed.
