I have the hard drive for the PS2, but no one is using it for any of the games. I was wondering... Does anyone here have it, and does it improve your gaming experience. I am considering taking it out of my current system, but I wanted to get some feedback from the body at large.

it really serves no other purpose other than storing information (ex game saves). the only games that actually use it are espn 2k5, final fantasy online, and resident evil outbreak. i think i'm gonna keep mine just so i can have somewhere to store game files.Originally Posted by getting awn

Have somebody modify your PS2. Most people cahrge around $30-50. The hard drvie space will be used for games. Like, you could rent NCAA 2006 for oned day, and It will remain on the hard drive for as long as you want it. You can play all teyh features without ever buying the game. I think you can store up to 5 games on there, depending on their size. And yes, you never need the disk again. I would do that, only i have the slim ps2

I have a buddy of mine who modded his xbox this way. He went to blockbuster and rented games and copied them to the hard drive over the course of last summer. He swapped out the hard drive for a much larger one however. He then sold it for 600 bucks in the local newspaper.
there's a new mod chip for the xbox that has every game ever made for the NES. that's something i'd pay for, if i could find it lol

before u take out your hard drive, remember EA is going to have the EA Locker. it's going to be like a mem card "in the sky" as they say, where game files will be exchangable between users.....
i haven't heard anything about that, but cool. even if that's true consider this:
the slim ps2 is incapable of having a hdd. also, not everyone has it, so this feature will probably use the shark port or max drive (meaning you'd be able to have game saves on your computer). just a thought

the feature is real, it will be there, EA Locker is "in" but the Club part of it is "out".
If you don't have a hard drive ( i don't) it will use the files stored on your mem card. its just a storage area for files. I imagine it to be this way from what i heard.
EA Locker Room: Basically an online hard drive/server thing for storage.
Your Files: Any game-related files on your mem card or hdd. I'm guessing there will be an "upload/download" selection where you can send files to the server for others to retrieve or you can go get files from others. I seriously doubt if it will be any peer to peer exchanges. we'll have to upload a valid file to EA and retrieve them the same way.
as far as the orientation of the file search and stuff, i don't know if they will have a list of users who uploaded files or hwo that's going to be set up.
but there's my guess from what i've read so far.
oh yeah, you're supposed to be able to download somone's sliders and stuff like that. i wonder then............if someone saves their rosters.............wouldn't you be able to get them like that?
