Well out of sheer boredom with StuperStar (what a joke) I stared a Colt chise even though I hate the Colts I thought it would be fun to rebuild their D.
It's really not that bad I guess as it's rated 85 which I gather is about average or a bit higher.
I'll address some initial position needs:
DT: needs some help. Montae Reagor and Larry Tripplett are 83 and 82 OVR respectively and lacking somewhat in STR and ACC.
ROLB: Cato June is fast enough (SPD 82) but weak (STR 63) but I guess he is acceptable for now.
MLB: Rob Morris is aging (age 30), slow, and very weak for a runstopper (STR 78).
LOLB: David Thorton lacks the speed (SPD 79) needed for a coverage LB that might be needed in Nickle cover schemes.
All the LB positions are in desperate need of quality backups.
CB: now this is the big weak spot.
Nick Harper and Jason David are the two highest rated CBs at 81 OVR. Not shutdown. They also lack speed at 87 and 88 respestively. Not blazing by any standard.
Rookie Marlin Jackson has all the tools to be a great CB but lacks elite speed. He would fit in as a nickel or dime back later on. Likewise for rookie Kelvin Hayden.
FS:
Mike Doss is adequate for year 1 but he lacks the jumping ability needed to compete for the ball with bigger receivers with hops in the AFC like Braylon, Randy Moss, Chad Johnson, Andre Johnson, and Jerry Porter, and defending the seam TE routes against the likes of Gonzales and Gates.
No we will need more deep speed and more leaping ability in our FS. We also need quality backups.
SS:
Bob Sanders is a great young safety. He's fast, he's strong, has good burst, great takling for a DB and marginal leaping ability. If we work on his hands and his jumping then we have a perennial pro bowler. Need backups here also.
I"m only going to use MGD players and I will be simming the seaons and playing playoff games if i make it. I may spend draft picks on a couple of other positions that are in need of desperate help like FB and G.
I will update every offseason.
