I don't think so, I just beat a level 28 player and ranked at # 39, it was a good game, however he lost. He has all X's but pulled no cheese at all, I'm at level 1 not even ranked lol. Just goes to show, no not important.

Nope, not important. Anyone can loose on any given day. Its gotten to the point now where I know when the computer will make me fumble LOL. The AI does its own thing some times, but rank doesnt mean anything b/c some people will cheat and do whatever to get to the top.

rank is crap this year. the only way to get it up there is use a horrible rated team like the titans or sumthin and u will go up fast. but rank doesnt mean anything.

Rank this year is as good to me as a broke dick.. I have beaten allot of high level guys and gotten my rank in the 1500 range, but the stupid thing about o6 this year is that i can go play 4 or 5 level one guys right now and as long as i win, i can get my rank below 1000. Knowing this has almost turned me off to playing and the cheese is becoming wide spread even more then last year. Players are practicing cheese rather then the skill of the game. but what can i do, i guess thats why they have the EA messenger. It just sucks knowing that the only good games you can get is playing someone below a level 5 because you know there wont come out with the cheese...

i'm not even ranked, i really don't care. i care a little bit about my record, but not much bc i lost connection 6X in a row resulting in 6 losses. i'm not ranked but my level is at 9. i used to think that it's important to play good players, bc i remember in 04 no one would play me bc my rank wasn't high enough, but at vg, there are a bunch of good players who are always willing to play, and it's not that tough to find a game vs a good opponent anymore.

I play online for fun now.. still like to win and stuff but too many cheesers out there. I am not sure about htis but I think they left the friendly quit on online pc games. I wish it was there so I can tell my opp, "dude, let me give you a friendly quit" instead of making the game lag and giving me hell, I just disconnect at that point.

I don't know. I value the rank over the skill level of an opponent. All you have to do to get a high skill level is beat people with bad teams like the Titans. Your skill level never goes down, no matter how many games you lose in a row.

Because of this i consider the rank a better guage of an opponents game.

RANK COUNTS!!! It is the reason we play the game. It's based on WINS. We all play for WINS. Rank is the reason we play. PERIOD.

With that said, Rank won't help you while you're playing. It doesn't matter that one player is #1 and another is #10,000. Once the game starts, the score is 0-0 and the one that scores the most, WINS.

After the game, RANK counts again...

IMO, rank is just a measure of past successes. Nothing more, nothing less. It won't guarantee a win or a loss. When players put too much stock in rank, they can easily feel it's "BS" as it's so often spelled out in the forums... A highly ranked player may look good on paper, but the game isn't played on paper. That's why they play the game n the field...

ok what I think is #1 most important would be the win. In Madden rank and level only shows that you can beat someone when you use a lower ranked team, and they with less skill than you using a high ranked team.

Rank isn't that important to me.I play to have fun vs a person or friend that's not cheese.

All I care about is if the guy plays str8.If he does,Im happy if I lose or not.
