Far Tight Twins Slot Curl - This weekend many people were trying to win regional Madden Challenges. In Philly this weekend, the top players in the nation was there to see who would win the DA Players Ball. Every group sent some of their best players to the event. Even Sandman came out of retirement to get back in game shape for this year. I saw many TV sets with some sort of compression on the field. Two formations I saw were the Near and Far Tight. One play I liked was the Slot Curl play. Let’s hit the field and see why this was one of the most used sets and plays.
Icon Watchers - One of the things that I hate is the fact that you have Icon watchers when you’re in I-Formations. These people raise the screen all day and look to see if you’re running or passing. When they read run they hit the run playmaker feature which stuffs the run. Then if you’re passing they’re already in a defense that can contain it. The thing is that it’s getting out of hand and costing many people games because it forces you to run out of other formations that aren’t as good as the I form, and forces you to pass way too much. A close friend of the WBC gave us this tip. This is a counter that will keep them honest and can bring some sort of balance to the game.
I Form Twins Max Protect - So many players have been expressing a concern over the run/pass glitch. But as I have stated time and time again If you can execute your play or scheme it doesn't matter if the defense knows whether or not you are running or passing. This week we will take a look at the Detroit offense and the I Form Twins Max Protect. This play has one of the hardest routes to stop in the game and it is being used outrageously in the Madden community and the tournament circuit.
Pre-Reading Defensive Coverages Part 2 - I showed how I like to pre-read defensive coverages before the snap in the Vikings playbook. I decided to put it in the filmroom this week because I feel it will help those who might be struggling to pre-read the defense before the snap.
Chargers Roster Moves - Offensively the Chargers have the weapons to move the ball up and down the field. There is no running back better than LaDainian Tomlinson. We all know how dominant an elite TE is in the game this year. Antonio Gates is a beast. Just throw the ball up high on just about any pass route he runs and more than likely he will come up with it.
