Hey Guys - does anyone have some recommendations for stopping a good TE - Gates, TG, etc? A guy I play against keeps running some sort of out or corner route out of the I formation and even when double covered Gates was open and catching the ball. I appreciate any suggestions!

I use two main techniques when I find my opponent is often using corner routes.
1. Blitz
Corner routes take time to develop, so a blitz will usually make the QB throw it before the TE isn't in optimum position. Since he's running the I-form, I think a blitz from the right (your left, your LOLB) would work best. This is because the QB will most likely move to the left if pressured, making the throw harder to complete. Also, shift your line to the right. This will sometimes jam the TE at the line, giving you more time, and let you blitz easier from the strong side.
Purple Zones
Purple zones can stop corner routes pretty well. You can playmaker a defender pre-snap into playing a purple zone. Also, if you have man coverage, control the man who's covering the TE. Just remember to stay in front of him and swat the ball, don't go for the INT.
if you can score points on his D, take the guy out of the game and take a few PI's along with it

purple zones or manually control the defender...both of these work for me if my opponent is hittin the TE a lot

you cant stop a good TE, you just need to contain him. Certain teams are harder than others to stop because they have good recievers to compliment the TEs. I like to double team or use purple zones on. Also, mix in some zone blitzes. Seems to work decent for me.

what i do is pick quarters undersmoke, bump and run, put two of the blitzers into purple zones, and manually control the other. this pretty much shuts down and corner/ post route that takes time to develop. if u mix it up and even disguise some zones to look like blitzes but arent, u can get good interceptions.
