Two human player league -- how does off-season work?

I started a fantasy draft franchise with my 13 year old son. We're about 4 games into the season and I was wondering -- how will the off-season work? Does anyone have any experience with this? Do we take turns signing coaches, re-signing players and scouting? I hope we both get turns at scouting, it would be nice to get twice the info.

By the way, we both have pretty good teams. He has already beaten me but we play again in week 17 (and in the playoffs too, most likely). We agreed to be in the same division so one of us will be a wild-card team. I was annoyed that he put us in the AFC West, the toughest division in football. He has the Chargers, I have the Broncos. We are playing at All-Madden (though since he played a game at All-Pro, so did I), default sliders.

i haven't done a two player franchise in 06 yet but i did one with my little brother in 05 and during the offseason both people get to scout and you sign coaches the same way as with a one player franchise,resigning players is the same too, free agency you take turns

Let me know your thoughts. I think that both teams are pretty good. As an equalizer, we simulated after 30-something rounds (I usually draft all 49 players). Both of us have improved our teams after the draft with trades, with the Chargers acquiring Trevor Price and the Broncos acquiring M Starks, K Barnes, I Taylor and B Johnson. Since team 2 traded players and picks and team 1 just traded picks, team 2 has more and better draft picks left over after the dealing.

I like it both team but im going to have to say I would have to go with the Charger on this one but that is just because I like the D a little better and Gates is the TE which after playing with the charger I love having him as a target. Now I do like the Broncos QB, RB, and WR. I mean both team at stacked with good players and both team should make the playoffs and be playing each other for the AFC Title every year. I would have done it different and made one a NFC and AFC so your goal would to be to meet in the Superbowl.

About your first question you will both get a chance to sign coaches and scout players. It does let you get to look at more players. I usually use more then one team in my Chise so i can have that advantage . Most likely since both of your teams are going to be going to the playoffs then you both will most likely be going after the same guy which could make draft day exciting. Cause if he wants a player and you know he wants I would draft and make him trade for it .

Yeah, we like a lot of the same guys (Urlacher, Gates, Bentley, Lechler, Janikowski, Randle El, F Washington are players we both have on other teams) so it was crazy. My son wanted us to be bitter rivals so we set the conditions to be in the same division (though I wish that he would have picked a division that doesn't draft as well as the AFC West). He won the first game between us but it was close.

I'm doing this now with Madden 2006. I'm into my 27 season.

Quick update: Midway through week 11, the Broncos are 8-2, the Chargers are 7-2 (haven't played this week yet). We both lost games that we were supposed to lose this weekend, with the Chargers losing twice (turnover city). The Bronco loss had some of the most blatant cheating that I've ever seen the CPU do. Two plays stand out -- punting the ball, it clearly goes OOB around the 2-3 yardline but the CPU says that it was a touchback. Since it was in the final 2 minutes of the first half, I couldn't challenge. CPU goes down the field for a TD (it would have killed the clock if it was spotted correctly).

The other cheat was even worse (though it may have just been bad programming). The CPU team (the Patriots) was losing 7-3 and driving. In the red zone, the QB threw a pass that was picked off and returned 100 yards for a TD -- uh oh, penalty on me for roughing the passer. Checking the replay, I didn't rough the passer. I did pancake him AFTER the interception while blocking which is the event that prompted the flag! Needless to say, he scored a TD on the next play. So instead of being ahead 14 - 3 with momentum, I'm down 10-7. (It didn't get better from there either).

I'm trying to switch to a different offense -- we both normally use the same offense so we know each other's tendencies. I'm guessing that we'll be getting close to the end of the season this weekend or so.

Man that sounds familiar. Sounds like how I lost to the Chargers in my chise this last season. 3 consecutive penalties, 1 15 yd facemask followed by back to back pass interfence calls, Chargers take the ball from their 13 to 1st and goal on the 1 in 13 seconds.

my room mate and I are doing a 2 player chise and we set strict rules for roster moves and the off-season. Resigning you can only resign 3 80+ players and the rest must go to free agency for competition

Restricted free agency we do as normal

Draft is done normally -- and you can only trade starters for draft picks

Free agency we simulatre the 1st day and from there we just compete for free agency players as normal taking turns making offers by player

We are limited to two trades per season and per off season.

My best friend and I also did a chise in the AFC West. We got into the 20th season before he moved away

Sorta funny though, neither one of us won the super bowl in any of those years.

We finished the regular season on Sunday night. Denver was unable to stop Shawn Alexander and the Chargers won 20-7. The Chargers barely threw the ball, afraid of turnovers. The San Diego defense came up big when it mattered, stopping Denver on a 4th and inches to keep the game at 7-0.

But Denver took the division at 13-3 (2 losses to San Diego!) and home field advantage through the playoffs. San Diego finished 12-4, killed by a 1-3 stretch in mid-season. As a result, the Chargers get to play the Jets in the wild card round of the playoffs. The Jets were the team that started the 4 game mid-season fade by causing 7 turnovers (the Chargers were 31st in the league in turnover differential).

The Broncos have had a couple key injuries in the last third of the season. Ike Taylor and Sean Taylor both went down for the season. Backup SS Brodney Pool moved over to starting FS (backup FS Dustin Fox not as good as Pool). Jabari Greer was picked up off waivers to cover the 4th CB.

The Chargers approach the playoffs with no injuries.

We should finish the playoffs this week -- maybe even the off-season as well. I'll post an update, either when the playoffs are done or as they happen (depending on how interesting the games were and how quickly they happen).

the better team..? id give the better D to the chargers... lots of big playmakers.... but i think on O its pretty even, all though with Tom Brady at the helm.... they might get a slight nod... IMO
