I've actually found some pretty good success with Athletes. You just need to make sure you scout them first. My roomate turned a 5* Ath that didn't have any real dominant position (he was a 80 HB & WR & CB and a 84 Saftey) into a SS. He was listed with 90 Spd after recruiting but after training his speed shot up to 99. I know I would love to have a SS with 99 Spd or even a LB with 90+ Spd.
I have recruited a 5* Ath that I've made a QB. Right now his stats are 85 Spd, 84 Acc, 92 Agi, 90 Thp and 82 Tha. I won't be redshirting him, but I plan on bumping my training budget up to around 60% for a year or two...who knows perhaps he might just be the VY clone I'm looking for.
