I'm curious what seems to work best for you guys. I have tried them both in practice and I'm not sure wich to leave it on. I'm leaning towards ON but wanted to hear from the board.

ON

PS3
i say on, not because of flowing to the ball, but it helps your posistioning when clicking onto a defender in the passing game. that's my opinion of it at least.

With the poor defensive AI in this game I always leave it on. I get my *ss kicked in the passing game if I have it off.
heck no...i prefer it off...i can go either way but with it off it helps in the pass rush situation and it actually makes it easier to tackle with it off IMO....
EDIT: i responded this not seeing what section i was thinking it was madden...however...i still use auto strafe off on this game too....

Maybe im old school but all these computer assist things piss me off. Now you can catch, strafe, swat, pick, strip, and big hit without ever touching a button or sometimes not even moving the player. On all madden they turn all this stuff off to make it more of a skill game wish ncaa had the option. Anyways my answer is its off.

I'm not very good with the defensive controls; so I really rely on auto strafe. Like DJ pointed out, is one less button I have to **** with. I've been trying to polish up my defensive stick skills in Play Now and Practice and I'm much better with the auto strafe. This is especially true against the option, I don't over play the QB very much anymore.
auto-strafe OFF.
Whenever I start playing the game without a loaded profile, I find myself
pausing the game to go and turn it off!
It limits your ability to move. It'll start you to strafing before you want to,
and you don't get as much freedom as you need to make the play the
way you want to make it.
I always feel that I can do something better than the CPU can, and I can
maneuver the player into an optimal defensive position better, and strafe
later, than the CPU likes to. When I press a direction, I want to
start running there immediately, NOT strafe for a stride or two before
breaking into a sprint.
If you control a defender from the snap, maybe auto-strafing helps your
containment strategy, to not over-run the play.
It doesn't help me, I have certain places I want to move my defenders, and
I like to do that myself.
About the only thing I like is the quick snap, LOL.
That is actually useful, as the blitz can come so hard and fast, you don't
get a chance to make the play if you have to light up the receiver icons
first.
However, I THINK that in Madden, you can turn off the Auto-throw, but they
haven't fixed that in NCAA yet. If they turned off auto-throws, that'd
be nice, too!
