A key to enjoying this game a little more...

Learn to recognize those crazy BS games early. If you're playing a friend, you can friendly quit and start over.

I started a game with Gator TD last night. I kicked off to him, held him to 3 & out and forced a punt. On my first possession, I throw a pick that was borderline BS. The WR was open for a sec, but I'm using a 76 OVR qb, so I could live with it. A couple plays later, his HB breaks free, but right before he crosses the goal line, one of my guys strips him and I recover in the end zone for a touchback. He holds me to a punt, and on his next possession, I get a user strip and recover another fumble. However, on the return, one of my guys is called for clipping, so I'm facing 1st & 25 at his 41. That makes 3 turnovers in the first 2 1/2 minutes of the game.

LOL. Pause. Friendly quit. Start over.

The second game was great. Ended up going to 2 OTs with the Gators pulling it out 30-27 after stuffing Lawrence Vickers on a 4th & inches run.

Anyway, my point is, this game is a lot more fun to play if you're willing to friendly quit and start over when the BS starts snowballing. It's all about recognizing it early. If it's someone I know and play against a lot, I am willing to sacrifice a 7 or 14 point early lead, knowing that it will come back around to me eventually.

I let Gamers out of a BS game a while back, so he owes me one. Bigjkt let me out of one too, so I owe him one. Fortunately, the game against GatorTD was 0-0, so we caught that one in time.

To all the guys who I play regularly, I am more than happy to friendly quit in the 1st quarter if you're getting hosed, as long as you return the favor sometime in the future. It really is a lot better than sitting through another momentum hosejob.

I don't know. No offense M-dub, cause ya know I love you, but ... that just seems pretty stupid. Some of the best games I have played are where I get down by alot early and then have to make a late comeback win ... or hold someone off after they've made a late comeback on me.

I would also be pretty pissed if I picked a pass early and took it back for a TD or return a punt for a TD, only to have my opponent call it BS and ask for a friendly. That just seems like taking the easy way out. I would never expect someone to give me a freindly if I asked them to. That is just an excuse to get down early, say something was BS, and get a free ride out of the game.

However, that is just my opinion. I'm sure some people might differ. But if any of you are beating my ***, please don't offer me a friendly. Give me an opportunity to try to rally to a comeback. I am usually able to do so.

Well, honestly..The game was flinging turds around more than a family of dirty monkeys.

His first possession was one of those tremendous, man-Coverage jump in fronts, tip it around and catch it INTs. My second possession I juked half his team..THEN FUMBLE AT THE 1! My very next series, my RB gets fumblitis again (The clipping I dont remember). I think at that point, its still 0-0 and any time either side had a chance to make a decent play, or the right call, something was FUBAR'ing it. Keep in mind it was 0-0 the entire way. Its not like I had jumped out 21-0 and then this happened.

On the second game, I dont know if its cause we re-started, or just lucky coincidence..But it was one of the *FEW* games Ive ever played where it was his mind vs. my mind. No real BS (I had a ref get in the way once on a 3rd and 10 pass. I thought 'oh turd here it comes' but it never did) seemingly went either way. The game did feature 'the comeback' you love too.

Mdub came out just dominating me. Started 8/10 passing, I struggled to contain his offense. Balanced the rushing game with the pass and some option. I believe it was 17-7 at half-time, and 24-7 in the 3rd quarter. I was able to work my way back to 24-17 with 2:30 left.

With 1:30 left, I stuffed Vickers for a loss on 3rd and inches, and called my last timeout. Mdub just had a brilliant kick, pinned me at the two with 1:20 left. I eventually worked my way downfield, luckily. Scored with 7 seconds left to tie it. 2nd OT I was able to get uber-lucky and meet Vickers in the hole with my MLB Brandon Siler for a 1-inch gain on 4th and 2 inches. A FG ended it.

So in short..Our action on game one was the normal EA BS..but it affected both of us. I can undestand where your coming from in falling down early and crying BS.

    I agree completely.

However, what I think would be honorable is to offer somebody a rematch if they want it, if the game gets out of hand early.

The only way that you are going to enjoy this game more is if you allow yourself to laugh at the stupid things, and not get so wrapped up in the competition that you let it get to you.
"It didn't look like anybody else was going to" - Woody Hayes when asked why he tripped an opposing playing who was heading down the sideline for a certain TD

"Here's a 20, bury two." - Bear Bryant, after being asked to chip in ten dollars to help cover the cost of a sportswriter's funeral

no dont ever FQ just because of EA's usual BS. if your truly a good player you will always catch up. I never ever pause to complain no matter what my opponent is doing because the guy who loses his cool and calls something a "glitch" will be the first to lose.

However, i know that this was just you and a friend so thats fine if you want to FQ. but im talking about basic online.

allowing yourself to laugh is step 2 of the program -- your progressing nicely.

Don't get me wrong. If you're down by 14 because of dumb mistakes that you yourself made, then I'm not going to offer you a friendly quit. By the same token, I wouldn't ask for one if I was in the same predicament. I'm just saying that there are games where you can recognize the BS early on. I know that momentum can eventually shift, but even then it's not really that fun. 1st half, everything works for player A, nothing works for player B. 2nd half, nothing works for player A, everything works for player B. The score might end up being close, but it doesn't make it any less frustrating.

And DJ, I think league games you just have to tough out, no matter how ridiculous they get. I'd never ask for or offer a FQ in a league game.
