    Manual Catching and User Picking

The board is dead so I'm trying to breath a little bit of life back into it.

What's your best suggestions / advice for manual catching and user picking?

Not to be funny or anything but my best suggestion is to do a search on such topics. This late in the Madden season there are a lot of threads where this was previously addressed.

Ask Madden.... The tutorials on User Picks and Manual catching are very intuitive. I now average anywhere between 3 and 4 user picks per game and I manually catch everything I throw to my WR's... Thanks Madden!!!!

Using the search function doesn't get a thread going.

Manual catching, or user picks, is all about angles. Once you click on the WR/DB you want to get to the ball you have to recognize which is the best way to grab the ball before your opponent does. the rest is easy.

    User Picks

    Couple of things...

    * Make sure your settings for defensive/offensive assited catch are off (default if your setting are on All-Madden)

    * Understand the defenders position relative to the WR and the X (where the ball is going to land). Using the Triangle button will get you different animation based on these locations. Ex. you dont want a WR to under cut your defender, if he does and you hit the triangle button your defender watches the WR catch an run.

    * Practice switching defenders as soon as the qb is setting to throw the ball. This will help you establish the defender in the best position. If you roam with a saftey alot of times you may not be watching the qb so you switch late. You need to be able to switch quickly, then get position.

    * Pratice when to use strafe, I mainly use it when the ball is lobbed.

    Happy Picking
