I bought Madden 07' last night

I am a big NCAA player, but usually buy Madden each year too just for a bit of diversity. I know alot of you are already on my friends list, but if anybody reads this board that plays Madden and I don't have you on my freinds list yet ... send me a friend request with a message saying you are from VG and we'll get some good games in for Madden. Unfortunately, almost everyone I know already solely plays NCAA only.

    My name is VG Avenge1

There is a space between VG and Avenge1

Or ... you can just leave your name in this thread and I'll add you.

MODS ... please leave this thread in the NCAA forum, because I want the usual readers here to know they can find me on Madden as well as NCAA .. thanks.

I got Madden for my birthday and had it for less than a week before I let my friend borrow it. I am 1-0 online, and I'm tempted to retire undefeated. lol Maybe I'll get it back from him and hit you up for a game.

How do you go about creating a new EA name, anyway? I've used the same name since 04, but I wouldn't mind having a different name for Madden...

Here's the way I know how to do it:

When you get to the online part of the server, press "X" on the name that you have. That should allow you the opprotunity to change your name, just follow the instructions.

The bad thing about that is, you can only have one persona saved per memory card. Not really a bad thing, but that means everytime you want to switch, you've got to reload your settings and everything. You'll also need to write down your password so that you can gain access to each account.

I gotta say, I don't really like the way that Madden plays. I've had the game since the day it came out, but haven't played it much.

The controls feel slow and clunky to me. The vision cone is a concept that I obviously love, but the problem with it is that it seems to take too long to switch between WRs. I dunno, it feels unresponsive.

The players just don't seem to move right. It's like they are running at half speed. The entire thing feels stiff and emotionless. I can't ever get into it, it feels boring.

And the blocking between the tackles is still crap.

I dunno, maybe it's because I'm used to NCAA which is a lot more uptempo, but Madden feels boring to me. I try to get into it because it seems to be more realistic in terms of strategy and such, but it's just difficult. The fact that I don't really care about the NFL doesn't help either.

Madden is better then NCAA. My problem is that I can get into the Giants in real life but I don't really care enough to consistently play with them or any team online or off in Madden. If I could consistently play my friends face to face then I'd much rather do that.

With NCAA, the game is just terrible to me. I consistently got angry playing the game online because of all the stupid crap that happens in every game.

Another major factor is that I've finally figured out that for me, it comes down to shooters being infinitely greater online games then a football game could ever be. Theres more variety, more action, more strategy... and the big advantage...1000x more teamwork. I love football but the videogames don't even come close to replicating the real thing IMO.

    This is so true.

Keith, even though I suck at them, I'd be willing to try a shooting game. Do you have a new one that you recommend? I don't want to hop onto Socom II, which everybody has been playing forever.

Socom II is great but its old and its now full of cheaters so I'm no longer going to tell anyone to buy it. Socom II is slowly but surely dying and there won't be another game that comes close to it on the current generation consoles..I'm convinced of that much. I'm currently looking for a relatively new online shooter right now but the PS2 doesn't have anything out thats even comparable to Socom II during its prime in terms of all the things that make online shooters(and made Socom II) great.

MightyBruin had been trying to get me to buy Star Wars Battlefront II for the longest but I held off because I bought the first one and it was decent but it wasn't enough to pull me off of Socom II. I finally bought it the other day but I haven't felt the urge to play it.

MightyBruin posted a YouTube vid of his BattleFront clan in action and the game looks kind of bad to be honest but I'm still going to give it a chance because I might have fun with it. If that doesn't work out then I'm going just say F it and buy the XBox 360. The first game I'll buy will be either Call of Duty or the Ghost Recon game unless some new great PS2 shooter comes out before I buy the 360. I doubt that will happen though.

I thought it looked cool, but I have no idea how much fun it would be.

I played a little offline last night and it was kind of fun. The game might not be so bad after all. I'll probably play a game or two online later on in the day to see how it is.
