    Any Ideas on How to Stop WVU?

    Played this guy over the weekend who used WVU - and he played str8 by the way - but I had no idea how to stop the spread offense from the shotgun. He would throw to Slaton in the flat for 10 yards. I couldn't cover this - Slaton was too fast. He would then run the option for another 10 yards. When he felt like it, he would throw for 20+ yards. I had know idea what to do defensively.

    WVU with UFag's playbook is unbeatable.

    The backbreaker is when White cuts it up the field on the option - you're so use to this team going to the outside (via quick hitter to Slaton, pitch to Slaton, HB Direct to Slaton) that runs up the middle of the field are very difficult to stop. And once they suck you into the run - well, then next comes the easy post completion.

    Try this. It worked for me against Ohio State:

    I started calling Dime Hulk 2 to stop runs to the outside and control a LB to watch anything up the middle. After that call man 1 deep coverage and try to stop the deep ball as best you can. You're not going to stop WVU's WRs but you can slow them down. This will take good user skills but if you can learn to stay in 1 deep coverage and stop the run that's your best chance of staying in the game with them.

    WVU=Cheese lol

    I notice when I use WVU on line a lot of guys won't play me and drop the cheese card. The people who do this about 70% of the time use Ohio State or Oregon only. It's kinda ironic or neurotic depends on which side of the river you're standin' on.
    In other words it's ok to cheese with Ohio/Oregon, but if you choose someone the cheeser isn't familiar with(WVU), he says your cheating. Smells like teen spirit to me. lol.

    stopping WVU

    I have no trouble with WVU.

    Zone blitzing DBs on the edges seems to really put the clamps on them, i don't know why really. I think the DL that drop into coverage are harder to block? I run 3 deep in the zone coverage, still i am a little suspect to deep passing, so i depend on the heat to make him through off the back foot and try to smack the WR with the one guy in the area. I give up a few big passes (but who doesn't). Scramblers will eventually give up on the option stuff and go to full on 5 wide drop back 20 yards stuff, then it gets easier to defend.

    Alright here's wutcha do.The only way to stop this GODLIKE offense is to attack the start of it, which means bringing the HEAT and lots of it. What I usually do is squeeze my D-line inward and then make them blitz outward, this makes the opposing player think twice about goin for a run up the middle. Afterwards I spy one DE and blitz the opposite side with a LB or SS. I use the 4-2-5 so its a big help against options. Stop him for a couple loss of downs and I bet he wont run the option again. When he starts commiting to the passing game, u have to grab your speediest defensive back and guard Slaton like Fly's on a Longhorn. If you see Slaton stay in the backfield (which will probably happen because he wants to give Pat a few extra seconds to throw) Just roam around the middle of the field, messing with his field of vision and passing lanes. I have a record of 9-2 against WVU using these tips.(and no im not a scrub hunter, they all had decent playing records)
    Accept the game invite, It's time to get Humbled.
