Frustrated with game any suggestions?

Ok so i suppose you could call me a newbie at this game. I have played >100 games and am around 40-66, played Madden 02 but not online so this is my first go around. I do not have probles grasping such concepts as hot routing and audibling. My problem is that I cannot for the life of me seem to be able to controil defenders well and obtain user pics. I can make catches on offense but when it comes to taking control on defense I cannot seem to do it. I see the pass and press B for control and then Y when the ball is within reach but all I ever seem to do is bat the ball down or the ball will hit off my defender and fall incomplete. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.

use L to swat the ball..or go into training camp adn practice catching

When you get pressure and hit the qb (not necessarily get sacks all the time), you'll see a lot of those bat downs turn into interceptions. Pressure is the key.....

but if you sit back, then a lot of those throws just become incompletions....

I have noticed that with pressure some of those do turn into pics (although not necessarily user pics). I run mainly out of the dime (46 defense) but will mix it up with some 3-3-5, some nickel strong, and the occasional cover 3 out of the 4-3 under. I do tend to send the blitz appx 50-60% of the time depending on what my opponent is doing, if he is pass happy then I try to send outside blitzes and then speed rush with the opposite end. I have been using the commit more and more which does seem to help when I get it right. I dunno, just gets frustrating trying to put together a nice string of wins with solid play, having holes in my game really bothers me especially when they get exploited. I'm not getting my *** kicked by making monumental mistakes, I'm just not winning the close games which is the frustrating part.

this is my worst yr in online madden, my rec is like 41-55 with a 6 games loosing streak, i almost dont wanna play this game any more and i never felt that way b4...i dont understand it, just a bad year i guess...lol

Do you play on All Pro or Madden? And last but not least.......Go Way-y-y-y-y back and do what you use to do, that worked for you and build from there...thats what I had to do. I got caught up in watch for this!! watch for that!! and forgot to just play my game and use my head........
