wow, i feel so dumb now. Something so simple, and yet i missed it. Now, what does this do, and how is it beneficial?
It brings the CB's up closer to the WR's. When the ball is snapped, the CB's bump and stall the WR's for a split second.
It will disrupt the play for a second, which ends up causing inexperienced players to mistime throws.
Downside is that the CB may get beat if the WR escapes the bump efficiently.
I almost never use it. In fact, I drop my corners and only my corners back off the line of scrimmage. Are the chances of the offense completing a pass underneath better? Yes, but if my LB's are playing zone, I have a little help underneath. Also, the chance of getting beat deep is lessened, which seems to be a common problem with every Madden I've played since 04.
