Where did you get it and how long have you had it? You have three years through MS with the ring of death, in which they send you a box, and you ship it to them to get fixed/replaced. If you have a store warranty, like through Best Buy, you swap it out. Hopefully you have a store warranty, if not, your 2-6 weeks without a system.

Just go to Walmart, and tell them that you just got it as a gift, and it's not working. Tell them that you don't have a receipt, but that the person who gave it to you bought it at Walmart. Walmart will, or they should, allow you to exchange it there for another one, as they have a no questions asked return policy. Otherwise, you'll be waiting 6 weeks for your replacement from MS. They might even let you get an Elite, you'll just have to pay the difference in price.

Yeah, you can pretty much return anything you want to WalMart. You can return an old ****ing game in a new case and get another new game.

Yea there is a post where someone did just this because someone else recommdend it because THAT person did it too.

So you'd be like the 3rd. Walmart will take it back, dont even bother with Microsoft. all the shipping and waiting.... bleh.

I was listening to somebody talking to a store employee there and she said people bring in used bottles of lotion for a refund. If they take back used lotion they'll definitely take back an XBox 360, lol.

Walmart will take back stuff they don't even sell. I've even heard of them taking back ammunition (which is illegal, luckily I also heard they don't restock it).

I've always had difficulty returning items to walmart. I was once refused a refund even though I had a receipt. Honestly, not sure why I even shop walmart. I can only remember one good experience out of many, many bad ones.

    Call 1-800-4MY-XBOX.
They'll ask a few questions and instruct you from there.

They'll eventually send you a box to send the X-Box back in
    - and they'll send it back free of charge.

It takes 4 to 6 weeks.

Yeah, it takes six weeks...give or take a couple days, lol. It's much easier to just take your broken 360 to Walmart, and exchange it there.

First off, make sure its the right red rings. Not the "power cord isn't plugged in properly" ones.
