Defending the Flexbone
what is the best way to lock this up?

From the perspective of a Flexbone user; I've always hated seeing the 4-2-5 and 4-4 if the LB are fast.

2-4-5 Nickle OLD Contain Man defense. Press Coverage and do nothing to run commit.

Or

I found this the other night.

3-3-5 Across OLB Fire. Pinch your DL but do nothing to them. Spread your LB's and reblitz the OLB's. Do Not run Commit. Do Not Man Align, Show Blitz, Or Press. The DB's being so far back really screws up the Offensive scheme. The OL doesn't know who to block.

If they like to run outside then the 245 OLD Contain works like a gem. If they know what they are doing then they will run up the middle every play. That is when you give them a taste of the run commit.

335 Across OLB Fire pinch the DL and spread the LB. Reblitz the OLB's blitzing. Leave the DB's Deep. Make sure gameplan is set to Y to key on QB. Very difficulty to run on. You don't have to Run Commit.
