you have to throw the ball against this defense no doubt about. if ur opponent is ignorant enough to play 4-6 every down then just spread him out in 4 and 5 wr sets, this will create all kinds of mismatches with linebackers on fast slot wr's.
if he loves to blitz out of it heavily you could also come out in an i form tight set with only 2 wr and max protect everyone else and u will have 1 on 1 coverage because of only 1 saftey on the field. |

^^ I agree you need to spread them out. I usually zone bust one side of the formation. I throw two man beating routes on the other side. Also in spread set sometimes the cb will line up on slot instead of the outside receiver. when I see this I slant out and throw the quick pass.

I run dives and slams all day long against this d. After a couple of runs the d will start to break down and you WILL get a huge gain right up the middle.

Depending on the skill of the player using the 46, outside runs can slice this d up. Frequently the LB's get caught up inside and can't get to the outside on quick tosses. Again, depends on who your playing against.

3 WR set. A flat route, TE post and WR corner. If the defense doesnt get there, then the WR is going to have a field day. I played a guy last night who used the Bears 4-6. I was the Titans and used Britt to eat the corners up. Any LB against Chris Johnson = toast.

On a 46 you got to pass, pass, pass. With that many men in the box its the only option. If he has LB playing pass coverage on your WR you should have a field day passing on them.

I would pass over and over again until they backed away. I'd use two WR sets to one side and read the olb to that side, using curl flat concept or like mentioned before with the post and corner routes.

I use the 4-6 Normal on defense and I usually have trouble defending Runs to the outside, flats routes and Corner routes. Tosses: Trick to exploding run defensives is putting TEs at your WR positions on your 2WRs 1TE 2 RB sets. You can switch out WRs with the substitution option before you select the play. TEs will bowl over DB when run blocking giving you a clear path on the sidelines for big gains. Once they start cheating to toss side, switch up to dives down the middle. Passing: Abuse the flats early to get your opponent to switch to over a cover two. If he running cover 3 you can hit the corner routes. Once your start see the safeties split in the middle hit him with TE post over the middle. Last edited by Prometheusch; 09-28-2009 at 02:16 PM. |

You guys are funny. Everybody has a different idea and nobody really has a clue.
"Dive and slams!" "Tosses and outside runs!!" "4 and 5 WR sets!!" "2 and 3 WR sets!!" "Posts, corners, and flat routes!!" "Fades and Streaks!!" "Curl, flats!!" Seroiusly guys.....get it right. According to this thread, the collective says that EVERYTHING beats the 46. BTW - I run the 46. |

It also depends who the players are in the 4-6. It also depends on who is holding the controller. All it is - is ONE extra player (SS) in the box, playing around the line of scrimmage. You could just throw a bomb but whatever. It's all about the offense. All of the above are correct - That's my answer.
