13D (artillery), but training right now to go to Iraq or Afghanistan as a 13R (radar)

Much respect for you bro.
Artillery is kinda cool, 13D (Artillery) shoots them from so far away that you need a 13F (Fire Support Specialist/Forward Observer what we used to call them) to tell you how to adjust fire. Some people might liken it to a sniper and a spotter, but trust me, this is on a whole 'nother level. Have much respect for you bro. When you get the Kuwaiti crud, you can say I warned you about it. OH, you said Radar. You have to be on your Ps and Qs to do that job, bro (don't want to be the unlucky soul that misses something, but I think you have good attention to detail [judging by how you post about gaming] so you should be OK] I know that you've probably figured this out already, but just in case you haven't, the military is all about attention to detail, having good PT, and not slacking off. If you just do those three things, you'll go far and fast. Don't neglect your education. You might not need much for promotion in the 13 series, but take advantage of opportunities for education on the government dime ... you've earned it if you're in Iraq, bro. The 13 series doesn't translate well to the civilian world, but the work ethic, discipline, and responsibility for valuable equipment from the military translates well to anything. Tack on a little bit of education (don't know what you have already) and you should be just fine when you come out the other side.

25L ... I think we called them wire dogs, as they were apparently cable runners, by trade. 25B...is the military equivalent of the IT guy, working chiefly on getting computers to talk to each other 25A...was the signal officer, think of him as the Vice President of Communications 25?? (another digit and an alphabet) were the signal warrant officer ranks ... you basicaly got to earn progressively higher technical expertise and influence, and, generally, no one ever told the warrant officers what to do. Of course, to their credit, all of the warrants I had the pleasure of interacting with were hard working and dedicated, and really knew their stuff. I'm just mentioning the 25B, to give you an idea that there is a better MOS than the 25U and 25L out there, if you're enlisted. Trust me, the 25U are jealous of the 25B. The 25B is jealous of the equivalent warrant officer. No one is jealous of the SIG-O, though. Since you're close on the education, I advise you to go that route. If I had stayed in, I would have definitely pursued that route. If you break it down, every job has the parts of it that suck. At least the higher you go, the less people who can tell you what to do, LOL. But, don't let me get it wrong. In the line companies, EVERYONE is jealous of the commo guys, and those are usually 25U.
