The Tennessee Titans Discussion
I know, it's another franchise. Let me get everything going and then I'll shed a little light on some new rules in this franchise...
Difficulty - My Skill Quarter Length - 12 Minutes Accelerated Clock - 20 Seconds RULES Off-Season -Can only trade down to a team that is in need of the best selection available. (IE If there's a stud DT left on the board, I'm not trading down to the team with two 90+ guys) -Can only make one bid at a player in free agency. In the off-season, I can only make one move at a player. If I get outbid, I lose. When I make that bid, is up to me, but I can only make one. -Only one singing of an 85+ player who is under 25. Can sign unlimited 80+ as long as they are over 32. -Re-sign players due to their play, not their overall. If my 77 OVR safety has a great season, he'll get a new deal over the 85 OVR guy that did nothing. -Keep it realistic as possible, if a player would retire as a Titan, he'll retire as a Titan. Preseason -Play 2-3 possession on offense and defense each half. Supersim the rest. Regular Season -For 2009, I will only be playing non-divisional games. That's 10 games. Next season, it could either be that, or all games, I haven't decided yet. Post-Season -Play every game. Pro Bowl -My discretion. If I feel like playing it, I will.

Just felt like playing as the Titans again. Haha. Still have that franchise saved, I might just make it a simulation franchise.
I also attempted to make this as realistic as possible. I've made draft pick trades that coincide with what has happened in real life. I only did this until the third round since there was far too much to do in the fourth. Here's what has happened. First Round 49ers via Panthers Broncos via Bears Seahawks via Broncos Second Round Chiefs via Falcons Buccaneers via Bears Patriots via Jaguars Patriots via Titans Third Round Raiders via Patriots Eagles via Seahawks Browns via Jets (Conditional, Should B. Edwards go for 1100 yards and/or 12 TD, it's a second round) The following will be updated in the OP. My "Rules" Off-Season -Can only trade down to a team that is in need of the best selection available. (IE If there's a stud DT left on the board, I'm not trading down to the team with two 90+ guys) -Can only make one bid at a player in free agency. I think you should do a guide for franchises if you get the time, for my sake and the sake of the rest of the franchise writers around here because honestly, you're doing it better and more often than anyone else. If not that, I personally need some advice on longevity and organization as I'm starting to get ideas about diving into another franchise.
I'm excited to see how this one turns out, to see what you do with it. Best of luck.

I'd say something that's a mash-up of information and personal input. Something that covers organization (HTML and table guide), trade logic, realistic settings (a rough guideline), and whatever pet peeves you have would be fine. A decent core of information for anybody who wants to start a franchise to dig into, because to be honest, this forum is pretty dead compared to what it used to be.

I realize doing a recap on a game I didn't play was difficult. That said, the divisional games will be simulated and then just a quick post up with stats for now.

I also think a way of pulling together some franchise info would be useful. There are plenty of sources of info for playing a game either off or online but not so much on running an offline franchise - drafting, free agency, salary cap, roster management etc.
We used to have people like Duckfan who'd discuss their experiences in the old days when next gen was but a distant promise and I still had hair

I'll see what I can do about doing a guide. It will take a while, that's for sure, but I'll do my best to compile some information together.

Been playing a lot of Call of Duty so I took a break from Madden. However, I'm back, should even have the preseason update out by the end of the night (within the hour I'm sure). Here's the full first round "draft coverage." Every trade except for the one for the Titans, was initiated by the computer. Before accepting, I looked to see if it was worth the move.
Giatns Receive - R1P10, R2P10 Browns Receive - R1P3 Giants Receive - R1P26, R2P12 Patriots Receive - R1P10 Titans Receive - R1P13, R3P16 Broncos Receive - R1P28, R4P28, 2011 R2, 2011 R3 Steelers Receive - R1P20 Ravens Receieve - R1P24, R2P24 Lions Receive - R1P25 Falcons Receive - R2P2, R3P2 Code:

Thanks, I haven't really had much of a chance to do updates lately, most of this season could appear to be the same way. This season is going pretty well so far, despite having troubles with Young. My offensive scheme needs a mobile quarterback, and there really isn't anyone out there that I'm interested, so it appears it's going to be VY for at least one more season.

So, with a weird scheduling tweak, only one of my five games to close the season are against no divisional opponents. Although I didn't mention it, I'm not playing divisional games again this season mainly due to lack of time (Call of Duty is a lot of fun). I stand at 7-3 on the season after a heartbreaking 27-24 loss to the Jets (even recovered the onside kick, just couldn't find the end zone. Without looking at the game, I'm either tied or one game ahead of the Colts, whom I'm yet to face this season. A strong finish to the season and a playoff birth is imminent.
That said, I've already begun contemplating off-season moves. I can't tell you exactly who is sitting with expiring contracts since I'm at work and not in front of the game, but I know Collins is one of them. I believe I have at least one offensive linemen as well. That said, here are my feelings at this point on each position... Quarterback I'm up in arms, Collins is going to be gone and Young is about 50/50 on his play. I kind of want to get rid of him, but at the same rate, can't really find a replacement I like, nor do I want to make a trade and lose valuable draft picks. That said, unless I find a great draft pick somewhere, Vince Young will be my starter until further notice... Running Backs Chris Johnson. 'nuf said. Okay, but seriously. CJ is great and after a week three pick up of Mike Bell, I've got a nice running back tandem. Fiammeta (I know it's spelled wrong) isn't that good of a FB and could be unseated in the near future, potentially a 4-6 round DP in the upcoming draft could be used on a FB. Wide Receivers/Tight Ends Britt and Mitchell are my one-two and I love it. Speed and possession on opposite ends of the field. If I ever get a competent quarterback, they could be great. The slot scares me a bit. Both Gage and Washington and bringing a pretty penny and not helping as much as I'd hope. Look for a potential move of Gage or Washington in the upcoming off-season and a late day pick on a receiver. I'd like to get Hawkins with some more snaps, I like him. As for the tight end, I'd like to bring Scaife back as a #2. I love Cook, but he's not the best blocker, whereas Scaife was much better. Offensive Line I'm going to need a center. Mawae should probably retire, and if he doesn't, I'll probably let him walk. LeRoy Harris has played good moving over to the guard position, and the rest of the line is intact and doing well. Center is probably my number one or two concern next off-season. Defensive Line My DT's aren't bad, but aren't great. They've played well this season, and unless either has an expiring contract and wants a monster deal, they should be the starters next season. Both ends, Ford and Bartell are locked into long-term deals and could be the cornerstones of this defense. Linebackers A replacement for Bulluck is in the back of my head. I'd love to find someone late in the draft and bring him up for a couple of seasons before Bulluck retires, but we'll see how it works out. Thornton has played well this season opposite him, making me second guess getting rid of him. Tulloch is earning his long-term deal and should starter in the middle for a while. Defensive Backs Finnegan and Griffin aren't going anywhere. Hope however, could lose his job in the next season or two to the rookie Harris (?). He's playing well, but so is Hope. However, CB2 could be a question mark. I'm fairly certain McAlister's contract is expiring, and if he doesn't retire, I don't plan on re-signing him. Another potential move is sending Harris to McAlister's position and see how it works out. If not, this along with center are my top two concerns in the off-season. Special Teams Only thing to talk about here is the return man. Hawkins is a bit too slow for my tastes, and I've given McCourty a chance and he hasn't been too bad. That said, I might look into a speedy back/receiver/corner to just return kicks for me... Now that I've written a book, what do you guys think?
