Got mine yesterday....looking at it now to compare to 360 streaming.

It's functional, but no where near as nice as the 360. The quality is not as good and there is no indicator of what kind of quality you are getting (on 360 it'll tell me if I'm getting 1,2,3 or 4 bars. 3 & 4 are HD. I just played the same episode of SVU on both the PS3 and the 360 and the quality was significantly better on the 360 (both are wireless).

The initial queue also loads really slow. As it is, I'll probably stick to the 360 for now, hopefully the XMB addition will significantly improve the service. With that said, it IS better than 360 Netflix version 1. M$ has significantly improved on Netflix for 360 since it first launched.

I don't like how on the 360 it now defaults to a small square for watching a movie. You have to use some of the zoom options to get it bigger, and then it cuts some off...

I'm guessing, did you not press Triangle then info for display?

I'm in the same boat. I posted my e-mail address and that was all. Didn't get a confirmation for an address to deliver the disc. DO you have to have a previous NetFlix account?

Also, Netflix is not near BD quality, I don't think satelite is either nor PSN HD movies. Just a fact, typical home US internet presently does not provide the bandwith and the service doesn't transmit at BD quality.

^^^^ I didn't know that. I figured they'd take BluRays and just upload them as an option. I mean if you're streaming a bluray file (probably what like 4 gigs?) if you're on high end cable you should be fine to stream it.

Never had that issue...everything I play shows up full-screen. TV shows, movies, documentaries...everything. I've NEVER had anything default to a small square. Not sure what you're referring to here.

McMadden, next time I fire it up, I'll load up a HD movie file and hit triangle to see what info I get. I DO sort of prefer the scrolling style on PS3 b/c the style of 360 hurts my eyes when I'm moving across the selections.

Well, the defaultnsize for movies etc on my 360 is small. Like, I have a 36 in tv, and in default I have probably three inch black space around the movie. I have to hit the "B" button, and go to the screen option, and go to a setting like fullscreen, widescreen, etc. It never did that until they updated the Netflix thing.

On a side note, got the email saying that my streaming disc is on the way.

LOL, I just got my e-mail. Funny thing is I posted my e-mail and created a PW, once logged in, my address was already listed. I just needed to list a credit card.

Well I got my disc yesterday! Popped it in, loaded the initial code on my PC on netflix.com/PS3. Took a minute or 2 to get the activation going. Lots of headings to choose from, latest uploads, TV shows, Movies (Comedy, Sci-Fi, Action, Romance, Drama, Docu's) etc, etc.

I picked Penn and Tellers BS TV show. Press Triangle then info (you can do the same on the PS3 controller by pressing the select button) well their TV show displayed on average 1.5 mps rate. The game demos, and Pulse from PSN display on average 5 7 mps rate. Now from netflix thats one show and watched on a 32" inch Sony BRAVIA, picture quality (PQ) on that display was about the same. Will check it out on our 40 next. I have the PS3 wired to the router, there were no hiccups, or delays, nor stuttering. The flow was seamless. One unexpected advantage is, the shows on netflix are not saved to the HDD they are streamed. My 160 gig western digital is just about maxed with 4-5 gigs to spare. I have DL TV shows from PSN, Warehouse 13, etc. In standard def: these shows take up 1.5 gigs on average but since these were bought and I own them, I could delete then on a later date re-DL the shows, Sony doesn't charge you double, I believe you have 5 DL of purchase items. I could start clearing HDD space knowing that.

So far for unlimited movies and TV shows I don't want to own on disc but watch is an alternative to HBO and Starz. After a year of heavy use I could see me not needing it any more. But we'll see.

The 2 week netflix free trial begins!
