Arrow west coast offense thread

ive been running the west coast offense with SD and have had good success. west coast really fits my style, becuase i like to make 3-5yds on short passes or runs each down, makes your touchdown a whole lot more satisfying thatn just bombing it deep. if you agree with that, learn this offense. heres a whole thread for discussion so lets get started. well what are your favorite teams for the west coast offense? plays? other strategies?

I have been using the Falcons for West Coast because of the Vick threat. His accuracy isnt the greatest, but it is enough to get along with. What i like to do is scramble out with Vick, then the guy will usually manually switch to a LB, then i throw it to the flats or Crumpler.

The best WC playbook is Arizona, IMO.

I went to more of a WCO style because I like to run the ball. This quick passing scheme with the pound open up the deep shots more so when you have good stick control. I tend to like teams that have good TE's, and backs. Most people double the wideouts so these guys are people that you have to depend on more than before.

Are you guys talking about the specific west coast pb or just west coast pb in general. Right now i run the oak and sea books. When i play a person that i'm gonna have to pound a little more i run with sea. I do love the west c. pb but it doesn't have any slams or plunges.

The teams I use are the Panthers and the Eagles because they both have similar defenses to start. I really like the Eagles and McNabb and Westbrook. Westbrook might be the 2nd or 3rd best receiving RB in the league (with respect to LT and Reggie). Although McNabb doesn't have the best accuracy, he can get the ball to where it needs to be.

I've been running the WCO since Madden 05. But I do go deep now and often. My first read is deep second meduim and third is my short/dump off. It's hard to defend against my WCO because I attack every part of the field. And for some reason if the medium route is open but I feel more comfortable throwing to the shorter safe route it's still okay.

I once read in a book "Art of Quartbacking" by Joe Montana that in the WCO if you have a player open 20 yards down the field and a player open 5 yards down the field if your throw it to the player 5 yards down the field it's okay as long as your making completions. That's what I like about the WCO so much.

See in madden I run the WCO JUST like Bill Walsh. If you remeber Montana would go deep if it was open. I had forgot that at first and was just running short routes until someone pointed it out to me on this board.

And in Madden I might run the ball just 16 times a game because my passing is so effective. I use the Colts playbook and play with San Diego.

I love outs and curls in man overage. I will always look deep first. My deep routes usually get open in zones and because I would struggle against zones now I hope the defense plays a zone because I can just pick them apart. My friend who runs a vertical offense would told me that it's hard to play defense against me because I attack every part of the field so he just can't cover one area.

All in all the WCO has made me a great Madden player and I think if your struggling on offense you should give it a try. If anyone needs help just PM me and I'll help you the best I can.

absolutely. wc is especially good for beginners to. i might try with vick and company now that you mention it, giants work really well too. manning is very accurate, barber is a great runner and catcher, and shockey is the best TE in the game statistically, and dont forget about buress and toomer as your receivers. yess you can PM me to if help is needed.

hmm thats a good tip for looking deep first then lower. im so used to looking lower then up, 75% of the time not even looking at the deep receiver. this will be labbed and i will report my successess or failures~~~~

so what playbooks are you guys using for a west coast style of offense? Do you think a QB with decent speed is needed in this type of offense, or average speed? I would think speed would help, but im guessing it wouldnt matter too much since Montana used it.

i use the default pb west coast. there are others, but the default is the most comprehensive, complete, and fits the style the best.

a mobile quarterback is not that necessary, but however and ACCURATE qb is. in west coast, you play-action a lot but do not scramble a lot. iguess it would help, but its not that needed.

giants are the best team for west coast. if you have something against my boys, (who yes, WILL beat the bears this week, ) pick a team w/ an accurate qb, good TE's and good back.

Another great thing about the WC is that you eat up clock. I am averaging 2-3 more minutes against opponents in T.O.P. for 8 minute qtr games.

thanks for the pb tips, I just started using the WC....
