Philly, I was down in Anaheim at the event. I should have tried to find you but I was wandering between the EA side and the MLG side quite a bit. My connections with MLG go back 6 years now so I had some catching up to do with the guys. I tell you though, seeing Madden and Halo being played under the same roof, at the same time...awesome!

The Madden tournament was real cool. The usual trash talking was going on in full swing and, of course, people whining about how they should have won but didn't. What I liked about this tournament was that unlike in years past, where you would see people using all of 3 teams, this time out people were using lots of different teams. I saw people playing with the Raiders, Titans, Dolphins, Bears, Broncos, to go along with the usual suspects like the Cowboys, Pats, Colts, Vikings, etc. I was surprised that not more people were using the Saints.

But, it was a great day of gaming. With MLG and EA joining forces, I think competitive gaming is in very good hands.

I want to thank all of you for making this past weekend a success. MLG pulled me aside and said we had record numbers for coverage of a Madden event. All of this was made possible with your support. Again, I want to make sure I bring you the information you need, so keep sending me input so I can perfect the event coverage for you.

Some things you may notice:

I am not able to cover every game, so I pick the main games and go with them.

(Coming) I did a play by play of one of the games with my friend J. Rios. I have it on my I Pod and will try and see how to get it to the masses.

If I knew you were there I would have made an attempt to say hello. I sit in the production are of the event and am not really visible unless I'm running to check on a score or something.

You make a great point about the use of different teams. Guys have even change teams in between events. I saw Secret and Jet Steele switch to the Titans after running with the Falcons in Dallas.

Orlando is next so I can't wait to see what we have in store next.

They only have four sites. Next one is in Orlando and the Finals consisting of eight players will be in Miami.

Madden is part of the MLG tour and MLG is in the middle of their year, I've read, which means they are in different cities. It's just a conflict of interest and maybe the timing of when Madden drops.
