Bug in franchise defensive play selection?

I just picked up madden this afternoon and started playing a new Franchise and I noticed that i cant pick my own defensive plays. I'm playing all-pro at the moment and the game setting for play calling is "hardcore". The offensive play calling works fine but on defense, when it goes to the pre-snap field look and I bring up the layout of my play, it's totally different than what I chose. What's interesting is that if I hold A and release it on the play that I want (the bluff for multiplayer), it picks the right play.

Is this happening to anyone else?
