The Great Debate - Wheel vs. Fade Hot Route

Even though ZFarls and SGibs spend countless hours every off-season together playing the new Madden NFL game, they don’t always agree. For example, SGibs loves big WR’s with good Catch In Traffic ratings while ZFarls will take a shorter, quicker WR all day. ZFarls loves to play tons of zone coverage while SGibs prefers man to man. They can’t even agree on food! ZFarls is all about buffalo chicken wraps, while SGibs is all about chicken parm subs. Its amazing these guys can even stand each other.

Today, they debate the newest hot routes in Madden NFL 13 and you get to decide who is correct!  ZFarls is all about the new fade route for WR’s while SGibs loves the new wheel route from HB’s.

Madden 13 Hot Routes

ZFarls – “Gibs, you couldn’t be more wrong than the time you tried to tell me East Virginia was a state. The new fade in Madden NFL 13 is easily the best new route. Unlike last year where it was only effective in the red zone, now it stretches out and gives your WR an outside release. This means with total control passing, you can tuck routes in on the sideline just like… hmm, Manning to Manningham in SB46!? Oh, and the kicker is that my route still goes back to the old end zone fade from 10 yards and in, which means I will still be using it to score TD’s on you all season long!

P.S. I also have another little way to make it even more deadly that you can read about in the digital products, but by then you will already by crushed from losing to me so much.”

SGibs – “Haha, nice try Farls, but there is no way the Fade is better than the new wheel route. I mean even just the new flat rout for HB’s are great, and seeing as how the wheel is a flat with a sharp cut upfield, its gonna beat man and zone. The wheel is going to hold down flat zones and make space for your WR behind it for big yards. See, I don’t even have to throw it to my guy to make this route awesome. You don’t know what great HB’s who can catch are like, but when this route gets downfield, no LB is keeping up with a speedy back. The wheel is also going to get inside position on the cut against man defense so you can lead the pass back in. The ability to throw this route at 5 different times make it a no brainer!”

ZFarls – “Nice, so your wheel route is a decoy…Kinda like Gronk in SB 46, how’d that work out again? ”

  1. I would say the fade just because you’ll probably throw more to your receivers than your back, but if you could hot route a WR to a wheel it would be deadly in the slot
