Madden 08 NG - Singleback Flip Trips Delta Sit

by: PhillyRon |
Once a month I come over to the dark side to see how
things are going with our current gen guys. This month on my visit
I want to look at the Buffalo Bills playbook. I have always like
the amount of pass plays that you can find in this playbook but
the play that I am focusing on today is the Delta Sit. Follow along
as we get into more detail. |

First and foremost take a look at the play and get and understanding
of the routes. This play will give you success versus any coverage.

I was originally going to show this play versus man coverage but it was
to wide open. The defense is brought to the field running the 3-4 Normal
Cover 3.

The reason why I say this play will work versus any coverage, is because
of the route combinations. At this point of the play the 3rd receiver
runs a flat route and forces the outside linebacker to run with him to
the flat.

The design of the defense will always give us a quick pass lane for our
flanker running the hook up route or in this play the Sit route.

When I zoom in a little closer you see how wide open the flanker is in
between the zones and beneath the coverage.

Because we know that the safety is in robber coverage, he will react
to the flanker hooking up under the coverage and when he does this we
go to the 4th (triangle) receiver running the deep corner route.
.jpg)
The corner back is playing deep third so we will always get the inside
position to go up and make the catch.

When our receiver comes down with the ball, he has gained 22 yards on
the play for us.
Final Thoughts
The Delta Sit reminds me of the Michael Jordan Chicago Bulls. I know
that sounds strange but if you look at the play diagram you will see the
triangle. I have found it easy to move the ball in any version of this
game when using routes that create a triangle. Take it to the field, and
see for yourself.
