Madden 10 - Quick Game Flat

One of the most important things you must learn as an offensive player is how to beat bump-n-run man coverage (also known as man press coverage). If you don’t find plays to beat this coverage, you can expect your opponent to call a steady amount of it along with blitz schemes. We want to show you one  tactic that can be used to beat bump-n-run man coverage with ease.

The Quick Game Flat

The quick game flat concept is an excellent way to get a receiver off the line of scrimmage without being jammed at the line. The key is finding plays that you can utilize with the quick game flat.

The Gun Tight—Stick out of the Saints’ playbook has the two outside receivers running flats. If you were to run this play as is, the receivers would get jammed at the line of scrimmage.

However, if you motion one of the outside receivers out wide just before snapping the ball, he won’t be jammed at the line of scrimmage. In this play, we motion the right outside receiver. It doesn’t take much for him to move before we snap the ball.

This allows the receiver to get off the line of scrimmage without being jammed. Notice how the left cornerback pauses for a split second before he goes and covers his man.
