Let's face it, some games can be picked up and mastered in about 10 minutes. Madden NFL 10 is so deep that it can take hours upon hours to figure out all the small details that can up your level of play. You can get some help from the Madden forums, but you still have to sift through the rants and flame wars to find what you are looking for.T
The fact is, becoming a competitive player in Madden NFL 10 will take some time and effort. There aren't any magic Madden cheats or cheat codes that will make you a great player.
Whether you have a job, schoolwork or other responsibilities, you no doubt have only limited free time. You want to have fun, you want to play the game, not spend days and weeks just trying to figure out the details.

Learn how to make pre-snap reads of the defense
If you can determine whether the defense is in man or zone coverage, then you can bust them wide open. The Season Pass will continuously visit techniques that you can use to figure out what the defense is doing before the snap. Then we'll show you how to attack!

Attack any coverage with compression sets
Many of our play breakdowns utilize compression concepts. We'll show you how to create match up problems for the defense over and over again. Put the defense on its heels and ring up the scores.
Get the skills to running a shutdown defense
EA SPORTS has made a ton of changes to the way the AI works on defense. True 2003 style Nano blitzes may be a thing of the past (but Madden NFL 10 looks promising), so defensive schemes are more critical than ever. We'll show you play after play that will increase the heat on the QB while at the same time protecting the weak spots on the field.
A Picture Paints a 1000 Words
You've heard this expression before, and VG Sports believes it to be true. We've included actual screen shots from the game...a critical feature if you are to learn the game.
People learn in different ways. Some can read something and understand it, but others need to see it visually. We've got you covered both ways. Here's a sample from the Madden Season Pass:
3-4 Predator - Cover 2 Sink
One of the three new defensive formations added to Madden NFL 10 is the 3-4 Predator. There are a good number of defenses from this formation that can be created to generate pressure on the quarterback. We are going to take a look at one that we like to set up that brings A gap pressure between the C and LG.
The defnse play call is the 3-4 Predator - Cover 2 Sink. This play sends a four man pass rush after the QB. The ROLB lines up on the line of scrimmage just outside of the LT. He rushes towards the inside. There are five defenders playing hook zones, while the FS and SS play 2 deep coverage.
To set the blitz up, we hot route the RILB to blitz.
We then place the RILB in the A Gap between the C and LG.
His blitz angle shoots through the A gap between the C and LG.
We also hot route the LOLB to blitz. We can manually do this or use the global hot route blitz.
We then take control of another defender. In this case it's the FS since he lines up on the same side as the two receivers do.
Once the ball is snapped, the C and LG block the RE and NT.
This creates a gap for the RILB to blitz through. The LOLB gets pressure from the right side of the offensive line.
Another option is to take control of the LOLB. Do not blitz him, instead leave him in a hook zone.
Once the ball is snapped, manually rush the LOLB.
This will get the RG to look to block the LOLB.
As soon as you see the RG move toward the ROLB, release the ROLB so he drops back in a hook zone. The RILB gets pressure on the QB through the A Gap.
One last set up you can do is to hot route the LILB to blitz. Move him across from the RG.
Once the ball is snapped, the RG will block the LILB. The RILB will have a clear path to the QB.
Final Thoughts
You have now seen a few different ways to get pressure on the QB using this play. The nice feature with these setups is that they do not require too many pre-snap adjustments to be effective. The pass coverage is solid, but there are a few holes that can be exploited if the blitz is picked up. |
