  • Blitzing Tips: How will forcing the ball to come out win you more games this season?
  • Packaging Guide: How can you get your best players in great positions, beyond setting your depth chart?
  • Special MUT Breakdown: We bring in our MUT expert to teach us how to get started building a dominant MUT team!
  • Two-Point Conversions: Need a play? We give you our three best ways to convert in clutch moments.

We have more “Game of the Week” action! ZFarls will look to reconnect with Ryan Q. and be ready to lock up in the Game of the Week. Their match was delayed in last week’s episode, and Ryan’s Tebow magic had to be put on hold. Will he try to unleash it live on Wednesday? Will ZFarls go rogue and continue with the special playbook he unveiled last week?

And, ZFarls ventured down to Giants Stadium to see the pistol offense in action with RG3 on Sunday. He shares what he learned and how it will help you win more Madden games.

  1. How do I read the prowl defense? I played a friend the other day who used the steelers and I don’t think I had one good read on his defense. I’m still learning to read defenses and this completely threw me for a loop. The game ended in a blowout and I left more confused than ever about reading the defense

  4. I’m using the 49ers playbook with shotgun doubles on hb circle as my base play. Pass lead middle on the te seam route is killer. What do I do when my opponent plays man w two buzz zones and double covers the tight end

  5. How to kick and how to defend squib kick??

  6. How do you pick the proper direction to kick off? The wind arrow seems to be random and not associated with the real direction the wind is blowing with respect to the field.

I have heard this and assume it will be looked into for a patch

  7. Which Offensive line is the best in the game? Bc some teams are better at pass block and others are better at run block. I suppose TE has something do with both of these as well

  8. How do I block punts? I’ve played over 300 ranked games and have yet to block a punt or even see one get blocked…I’ve seen field goals and extra points get blocked but not punts

I’d like to see this one too. Also how to return punts. I have not returned at punt or seen one returned since Madden 09.

  11. I’m using the 46 playbook with the ravens, is this the best base D for this team? If not would the GB playbook work since you use it with the 49ers D in the specialized tourney D guide, harbaughs have similar d philosophy does it translate to madden? Looking for #bold flavors on D!

  12. how do you defend short to medium part the field. I’m running into a lot of guys using protection with TE and HB in passing formations that pick up my blitz scheme. They are able to get off quick passes before they engage the hook zones in the middle.

    ZFaris Reply:

Look to user bump and drop some defenders on the defensive line. mix up blitzes and get them to block and only send out 3, and you have 9 in coverage.

  13. I use 4-3 but I lab plays against different sets take one play and do different stuff say shotgun plays shift crash to see what kind of heat you get then when I play sm one in shotgun play that’s what play I use then learn ur cracks to cover if done right I get a sack or pick

  14. When defending come back routes what is the best defense? Sometimes shading gets you burnt & cover 2 sink don’t always get there. I’ve labbed alot of things but can’t find anything consistent that works..

  15. what d formation can i use to stop the run and the pass?

    [Reply]

    ZFaris Reply:

Any base defense from 4-3 to nickel (any type) can stop these plays. They key is to find one and mix up your playcalling. 2 man under (70) other zones (15, blitzing 15) etc.

  16. can i get a few good run stoppers out of the cover 2 playbook preffereably 43 under also my defensive dillemma is which is the best overall d excluding the o when you look at the 9ers colts, packers, cowbiys, and ravens di not sleep on indy make sure u look b4 u assume

  18. What are some good ways to beat zone coverage from the Gun Bunch Quads formation?

    [Reply]

    Nevada_Ballin Reply:

I use the Philly book and the Bunch Quads formation a lot, one of my fav formations in the game. The easiest way to make anyone in zone coverage pay is to hot route the R1 (PS3) Receiver on a quick slant and motion the Triangle receiver to his near sideline. If you look at the formation after you’ve made that motion, it’s enough to scare the crap out of most opponents. The R1 receiver is usually wide open as he crosses the middle with the hot routed slant vs most zones. Streaking the X button receiver will also help freeze the middle zone players. Also, your isolated receiver is money for square outs and curls vs zones. Hope that helps, maybe the TWIM guys can video this up for you to see.

  19. What is the best way to set up a quarters defense to stop the run? Show Blitz? Shifting line or lbs?? And still have that great coverage behind it

  21. I’m having troubles playing defense, what are some effective defenses formations for specific teams to utilize them effectively. I am currently using the cheifs

  22. Having trouble stopping the run. I tend to user the weak side LB or SS and when I try to bust through the gaps and attack the RB I always tend to engage with a blocker and cannot get out of it. Any tips on how to not engage with blockers and better attack the ball carrier??

  23. Which defense is better 3-4 or the 4-3? My Dolphins run a 4-3 due to the front 7 they have.

… Last week ZFarls gave my FINS some props.. Thanks a bunch… And SGibs was not liking that at all. Please read SGibs… I have been a true follower for years. You gave me my first Scheme for the dolphins when Pat White was drafted to Miami. I wanted to to pay for it and send you something, but he said its fine.. I remember the show when you were talking about “HIT STICK” and you were outside in your yard “HIT STICKING” a snow man.. Remember that show.. It was great!!!!

  24. Is it wise to approach your offensive game with a strategy of targeting a particular player to be the center piece of your offense and use plays to get that player involved. For instance, I’m playing as the Saints this year and I think I’m totally underutilizing Jimmy Graham. What would be some plays out of the New Orleans playbook you’d use to ensure Jimmy Graham (or other key TEs such as Vernon Davis and Antonio Gates) as a key piece in your offense?
