Shotgun 5WR Bunch Triple Stack WR4 Cross Concept
Concept:
The Shotgun 5WR Bunch Triple Stack WR Cross Concept can be used to clear out coverage for WR4 on the crossing route. This concept can be used against both man and zone coverage.
Primary Patterns:
WR4 (Y) - Cross
Offensive Play Used:

How the Concept Works on the Field:
We set the Goal Line FB Dive as our RB Audible.
The play we use for this concept is the Shotgun 5WR Bunch Openfield Drag. WR4 is the primary receiver for this concept.
The defense comes out in the Quarter Normal Str Ram Buck 1
To get the triple stack, we press the X button and then RB button. We then press the X button and the LT button. If done properly, the three receivers on the trips side will be tripled stacked. WR2 will lined up facing the sideline.
Once the ball is snapped WR3 and WR5 get off the line of scrimmage without being jammed. WR1 does get jammed. Keep in mind WR1 won't always get jammed. It depends on the routes and coverage being played.
At some point receivers will cross each other. This causes confusion for the defenders.
In the screen shot above we have four options to throw to.
We decide to throw to WR4 running the crossing route.
We make the catch for a 15 yard pick up.
Key Points:
- If zone coverage is called, we don't change any of the pass routes. We make the same reads as if we were running the play against man coverage.
- We have shown the Shotgun 5WR Bunch Openfield Drag a few times. That's because it's the best play in the formation. Being able to give it different looks will keep your opponent off balance.
