With all the games that exist in todays social World (farmville, mafia wars, angry birds etc) it can be intimidating to sit down and find one to play. Gone are the days where playing video games makes you nerdy. Its now a cultural phenomena and its with multiple games across multiple platforms. Playstation 3, XBOX 360, and even your computer screens are all brightly lit boxes that shine deep into the night keeping us all awake. Whats changed? Why are more people playing more then ever?
A big hand has to be given to social networking sites that have helped to not only connect like minded gamers but to immerse them into a virtual world. The Madden Community is certainly one of these online cultures that has seemed to grasp an entire nation. From its annual Maddenoliday release to the “Madden Curse” Men of all ages spend there time playing EA Sports John Madden Football religiously.
Whats crazy to me about all this is what keeps us coming back for more is not because of the technological advancements of the game. Its because its a right of passage, its a comradery, its 2012 version of a brotherhood. Instead of going out on weekends and spending time and money at a bar you can stay in, hop online and start playing games with your friends. Just about everything in life seems to come back to one thing and one thing alone. People.
The Madden Community has developed so much that it has “Crews” for tournaments. Think of a Crew has your Grandfathers gang minus all the illegal activities and more about training for tournaments and cash prizes. Gamers across the country spend countless days and nights talking with each other and exchanging strategies.
A big shoutout goes to the Madden Secret Society – you guys know who you are – it stemmed me to write this blog at 12:23 AM.
How about you? Do you have a group of Madden buddies that you play with year round?
